Normal Operation
The Generic Electronic Module (GEM) ground controlled circuit for the courtesy lamps is spliced and provided to the customer access block connector. This allows the customer-installed equipment to turn the interior courtesy lamps on.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Customer-installed components or circuitry
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
PINPOINT TEST AE : THE COURTESY LAMPS DO NOT TURN ON FROM THE CUSTOMER-INSTALLED COMPONENT
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
AE1 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Open and close the doors while observing the courtesy lamps.
Do the courtesy lamps operate correctly?
Yes
GO to AE2.
No
REFER to Lighting and Horns.
AE2 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP GROUND CONTROLLED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Customer Access Block Connector C3509.
- Make sure the doors are closed and the courtesy lamps are off.
- Ignition ON.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the customer access block connector C3509-3, circuit 29-LC7 (OG/BU), harness side and the customer access block connector C3509-10, circuit 31-LG12 (BK), harness side.
Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?
Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. The vehicle is operating correctly. The concern is with the customer-installed components or circuitry.
No
REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
