Rear Drive Halfshafts




Halfshaft





NOTE: LH halfshaft shown, RH similar.









Removal

1. Remove the wheel bearing and wheel hub.

2. Remove the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) sensor bolt and position the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) sensor aside.

3. NOTICE: Do not damage the differential oil seal when removing the halfshaft from the differential.

Using a suitable pry bar, remove the halfshaft from the differential.
- Remove the halfshaft through the wheel bearing opening in the wheel knuckle.






4. Remove and discard the circlip from the stub shaft.





Installation

1. Install a new 28 mm (1.102 in) circlip on the stub shaft.





2. NOTE: Make sure the oil seal protector is correctly aligned with the differential oil seal during installation.
Using the Axle Seal Protector, install the halfshaft in the differential.






3. Install the stub shaft in the rear drive unit.
- Make sure the circlip locks in the side gear.


4. Position the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) sensor and install the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) sensor bolt.
- Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).


5. Install the wheel bearing and wheel hub.
