Crankshaft - Removal
REMOVAL
1. Remove engine assembly from vehicle Engine - Removal.
2. Remove clutch assemblyClutch Disc - Removal.
3. Remove flywheelRemoval.
4. Mount engine on a suitable repair stand.
5. Remove oil pan Engine Oil Pan - Removal.
6. Remove crankshaft rear oil seal retainer Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Retainer - Removal.
7. Remove crankshaft pulley and damper Vibration Damper - Removal.
8. Remove timing chain cover Engine Timing Cover(s) - Removal.
9. Remove timing chain Timing Chain & Sprockets - Removal.
10. Remove oil pump pick up tube.
11. Remove swinging oil pump pick up assembly.
12. Remove crankshaft oil scraper.
CAUTION: DO NOT use a number stamp or a punch to mark connecting rods. Damage to connecting rod could occur.
13. Inspect connecting rods and connecting rod caps for cylinder identification. Identify them if necessary using a permanent ink, paint marker or engraver.
CAUTION: Care must be taken not to damage the fractured rod and cap joint surfaces, crankshaft journals or cylinder bores as engine damage many occur.
14. Remove connecting rod bolts and caps.
15. Main bearing caps are not interchangeable and should be marked before removal to ensure correct reassembly.
16. Remove the side main bearing cap bolts and main bearing cap bolts.
17. Remove the main bearing caps.
18. When removing the crankshaft, it should be lifted straight out of the engine block. This will prevent any damage to the engine and crankshaft and bearings.
