Front Brake Hose Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning (Brake Dust Warning).
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning (Brake Fluid Irritant Warning).
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution (Vehicle Damage Warnings).
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Disconnect the brake pipe fitting (1) from the brake hose.
4. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
5. Remove the brake hose bracket bolt (1) from the front suspension strut.
6. Remove the brake hose bracket bolt (2) from the wheelhouse panel.
7. Remove the brake hose fitting bolt (1).
Note: Do not reuse the brake hose fitting gaskets.
8. Remove and discard the brake hose fitting gaskets (2) from the brake hose (3).
9. Remove the brake hose.
Installation Procedure
1. Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) with 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
2. Install the brake hose assembly to the brake caliper and tighten the brake hose fitting bolt to 40 Nm (30 lb ft).
3. Install the brake hose bracket bolt (1) to the front suspension strut and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
4. Install the brake hose bracket bolt (2) to the wheelhouse panel and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
5. Connect the brake pipe fitting (1) and tighten to 16 Nm (12 lb ft).
6. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Service and Repair).
7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
