Differential Carrier Components Disassemble

^ Tools Required:
- J 28585 Snap Ring Remover
- J 33381-A Transmission Front Differential Remover and Installer





1. Rotate the transmission (15) so that the case cover flange is facing upward.
2. Using J 28585, remove the spacer retainer (647) for the differential carrier from the case.
3. Remove the spacer (671).





4. Set J 33381-A to the 3T40 Final Drive Install/Remove position.
5. Insert J 33381-A into the differential carrier. Tighten the handle.
6. Lift the carrier out of the case and set it on a clean work area.
7. Remove J 33381-A from the carrier.





8. Remove the selective washer (680) and the thrust bearing (681) from the case. The washer and the bearing may have remained on the carrier.





9. Remove the following parts:
^ The final drive internal gear (673).
^ The bearing (674) between the sun gear (675) and the final drive internal gear (673).
^ The final drive sun gear (675).
^ On some models, the bearing (676) between the final drive and the sun gear.
