Differential Carrier Components Assemble

^ Tools Required:
- J 33381-A Transmission Front Differential Installer and Remover





1. Insert the sun gear bearing (676) into the differential carrier (678).
2. Insert the final drive sun gear (675) into the carrier (678).





3. Insert the final drive sun gear bearing (674) into the final drive internal gear (673). Retain with TRANSJEL(tm) or equivalent.





4. Insert the final drive internal gear (673) onto the carrier assembly (678).





5. Insert the selective washer (680) onto the front differential carrier. Retain with TRANSJEL(tm) or equivalent.
6. Insert the case thrust bearing (681) onto the front differential carrier. Retain with TRANSJEL(tm) or equivalent.





7. Set J 33381-A to the position marked 3T40 Final Drive Install/Remove.
8. Install the J 33381-A into the differential carrier (678). Tighten the handle.





Important: Align the front differential carrier and the final drive internal gear assembly with the case internal splines.

9. Place the differential carrier and the internal gear into the transmission case.
10. Remove J33381-A.





11. Inspect the final drive internal gear spacer (671) for damage.
12. Inspect the front differential carrier spacer retainer ring (647) for damage.





Important: Orient the spacer as shown.

13. Insert the internal gear spacer (671) into the case.
14. Insert the retainer ring (647) into the case. Position the ring relative to the spacer as shown.
