Timing Cover: Service and Repair

Engine Front Cover Assembly:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

TOOL REQUIRED:
^ J 39087 Driven Gear Shaft Front Cover Seal Protector.

1. Throttle body airduct.
2. Serpentine drive belt. Drive Belt
3. Water pump assembly. Service and Repair
4. Crankshaft balancer assembly and hub. Service and Repair
5. Distributor assembly. Service and Repair
6. Oil pan assembly. Service and Repair
7. Engine front cover bolts/screws (52).
8. Engine front cover assembly (50) and gasket (51).

CLEAN
^ Engine front cover and engine block gasket surfaces.

INSPECT
^ Engine front cover assembly (50) for damage to the seals or gasket surface.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

NOTE: Be careful not to damage the seal when installing the engine front cover assembly over the water pump driveshaft assembly.

1. Gasket (51) and engine front cover assembly (50) using J 39087 on water pump driveshaft assembly.
2. Engine front cover bolts/screws (52).

TIGHTEN
^ Engine front cover bolts/screws (52) to 11 Nm (100 lb. in.).

3. Oil pan assembly. Service and Repair
4. Distributor assembly. Service and Repair
5. Crankshaft balancer assembly and hub. Service and Repair
6. Water pump assembly. Service and Repair
7. Serpentine drive belt. Drive Belt
8. Throttle body air duct.
