Diagnostic Strategies
Most intermittents are caused by faulty electrical connections or wiring, although a sticking relay or solenoid can occasionally be at fault.
Due to the sensitivity of ABS components to Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), the following checks should be performed if an intermittent malfunction is suspected.
^ Cheek for proper installation of wiring harnesses resulting from add-on options such as police packages.
^ Visually inspect wheel speed sensor and toothed ring for looseness, damage, foreign material accumulation and proper mounting. Replace damaged components, remove any foreign material and properly attach all components.
^ Check for proper routing of front wheel speed sensor wiring near spark plug wires.
^ Using DVM J 39200, measure resistance of spark plug wires, If J 39200 displays "OL" (infinite) or greater than 30,000 ohms for any wire, replace spark plug wires.
^ While test driving vehicle, monitor Tech 1 wheel speeds. If any wheel speed drops or displays an erratic speed, refer to the appropriate wheel speed DTC,
