Valve Cover: Service and Repair

Removing And Installing / Sealing Cylinder Head Cover:




- Remove cover from injection valves.




- Remove cover from cylinder head cover.
- Pull cylinder head cover forwards to remove.
- Remove ignition coils.




- Unclip vent connection.




- Remove cylinder head cover.




Installation:
- Remove sealing debris from sealing faces of cylinder head and cylinder head cover.
- Coat contact surfaces of joint with Drei Bond 1209.




Installation:
- Apply a thin and even sealing bead of Drei Bond 1209 at transition to half-moon sections at rear of cylinder head.
- Check seals and replace if necessary.




Installation:
- Make sure gasket is correctly seated on rear and front ends of cylinder head.
- Install cover bolts and align cylinder head cover.
- Hand-tighten all cover bolts without preload. Tighten cap nuts crosswise from inside to outside.

Cylinder Head Cover Screws
6 mm [1] 10 Nm (7 ft lb)
7 mm [1] 15 Nm (11 ft lb)
