Left Flange Shaft
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
• Puller (T10037)
• Needle Bearing Drift (VW 295)
Removing
• Left flange shaft, removing and installing with installed transmission.
• General repair instructions, refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.
• Automatic transmission clean working conditions, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• Transmission removed and secured to assembly stand. Refer to => [ Transmission, Securing in Engine/Transmission Holder ] Transmission, Securing in Engine/Transmission Holder.
- Position the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.
- Tightly thread lower support of (T10037) on front cover for final drive - arrow -.
• To avoid damage to the needle bearings (polygon bearings) or differential during removal, the flange shaft must be removed evenly, parallel and without one sided pressure
- Remove left flange shaft with (T10037).
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
• Flange shaft circlip must always be replaced.
- Replace the circlip for the flange shaft, to do this, place the flange shaft in a vise with jaw protectors.
- Remove the old circlip from the groove in the flange shaft using the new circlip - A -.
- Clean the flange shaft.
- Check left flange shaft seal, replace if necessary. Refer to => [ Left Flange Shaft Seal ] Left Flange Shaft Seal
- Drive in left flange shaft using (VW 295).
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.
The multitronic 01J transmission require different axle oil depending on the version. Only axle oil for Multitronic which can be obtained as a replacement part must be used in front final drive.
