Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Brake piston resetting tool (T40142)
Removing
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove wheels.
- Remove the parking brake pads. Refer to => [ Parking Brake Pads ] Service and Repair.
• To remove and install the brake pistons, use the (T40142) with a commercially available ratchet and extension.
- Remove the protective boot from the brake pistons and the brake pistons from the brake caliper with the (T40142).
- Remove the protective boot from the brake caliper.
Installing
• Coat the brake pistons and protective boot sealing lips lightly with assembly paste.
- Pull the protective boot over the brake pistons.
- Insert the protective boot in the groove in the brake caliper.
- Carefully install the brake pistons in the brake caliper with the (T40142).
- Insert the protective boot in the upper groove on the brake piston.
- Install the brake piston in the brake caliper completely.
- Install the parking brake caliper. Refer to => [ Parking Brake Caliper ] Parking Brake Caliper.
- Install the parking brake pads. Refer to => [ Parking Brake Pads ] Service and Repair.
- Install the wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjusting the parking brake, refer to => [ Parking Brake, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
