Brake Caliper

Brake Caliper

Removing

- Raise vehicle.

- Remove wheels.

CAUTION!
If brake pads are ceramics, wheel must not fall on brake disc, otherwise it will be irreparably damaged. To install/remove wheel, install two assembly pins from vehicle tool kit in mounts on wheel bolts. The long assembly pin is in the upper position.

It is not necessary to remove the brake pads when removing and installing the brake caliper.

- Push the brake pads back slightly.

The brake pistons with the old pads still installed can pressed back to allow all brake pistons in the brake caliper to be pressed back evenly using pliers.

Be careful not to damage the coating on the brake caliper and on the brake pads.

Before pushing back the piston, siphon some of the brake fluid out of the brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

- Disconnect the brake hose bracket - 13 - at the bolt - 14 -.

- Remove the bolts - 3 - from the brake caliper.

Push the brake piston, with the resetting tool or with suitable pliers, into the cylinder before removing the brake caliper. Before pushing back the piston, siphon some of the brake fluid out of the brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise, especially if reservoir has been topped off, fluid will overflow and cause damage.

- Remove the brake caliper.

CAUTION!
Do not hang the brake caliper on the brake hose, but rather tie it to the body with wire.

Installing

Slide the brake caliper with the brake pads installed carefully over the brake disc.

Replace the bolts - 3 -.

- Install and tighten the new bolts - 3 -.

Make sure the brake hose is not twisted.

- Attach the brake hose bracket - 13 - with the bolt - 14 -: 25 Nm.

Brake hose bracket to brake caliper: 25 Nm

Brake hose bracket to crossmember support and suspension: 9 Nm

- Install wheels.

- Check brake fluid level, and fill if necessary.

CAUTION!
After the first drive, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.

CAUTION!
Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
