Track Control Arm
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Assembly device (3291)
• Torque wrench (40-200 Nm) (VAG 1332)
• Due to the inaccessibility of the inner bolt - 1 -, the track control arm can only be removed when the subframe has been removed.
• Measure the vehicle after repair. Refer to => [ Vehicle Alignment Overview ] Vehicle Alignment Overview.
Removing
- Remove the subframe. Refer to => [ Subframe ] Subframe.
- Mark the position of the eccentric bolt - 2 - to the wheel bearing housing using a felt tip pen.
- Separate connections - 1 and 2 -.
Installing
- Insert the track control arm - 2 - in the subframe with a new bolt - 3 - and nut.
Track control arm - 2 - installed position to the subframe:
- Tighten the track control arm - 2 - to the subframe by hand.
- Place the (3291/2) on the rear subframe mount - 1 -.
- Lay a ruler or a straight edge - A - on the (3291/2).
- Position the track control arm so that dimension - a - = 96 ± 1 mm between the lower edge of the ruler and the and the center of the outer hole.
- Tighten the track control arm bolt - 3 - to the subframe in this position.
- Install the wheel bearing housing to the track control arm and tighten the new nut to 20 Nm. Note the marking applied to the wheel bearing housing for the eccentric bolt - 2 -.
- Install the subframe. Refer to => [ Subframe ] Subframe.
- Tighten the threaded connection - 2 -, refer to - item 17 - in => [ Stabilizer Bar, Track Control Arm, Tie Rod, Coupling Rod, Connecting Link, Trailing Arm and Level Control System Sensor Assembly Overview ] Stabilizer Bar, Track Control Arm, Tie Rod, Coupling Rod, Connecting Link, Trailing Arm and Level Control System Sensor Assembl.
- Perform a vehicle alignment. Refer to => [ Wheel Alignment ] Wheel Alignment.
