Pilot Bearing: Service and Repair
Needle Bearing on Dual Mass Flywheel
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Centering mandrel (3176)
• Bearing driver (3264)
• Depth gauge (VAS 6082)
• 1 - Internal puller (Kukko 21/2)
• 4 - Counter-support (Kukko 22/1)
Procedure
• Transmission removed.
- Remove clutch pressure plate.
- Measure depth - dimension x - that the needle bearing is driven into the dual-mass flywheel and note this for later re-installation.
- Pull out needle bearing using internal puller ( Kukko 21/2) and counter-support (Kukko 22/1).
• The plastic ring in the dual-mass flywheel is affected by impacts. If plastic ring is damaged, the dual-mass flywheel must be replaced.
- Drive needle bearing into dual-mass flywheel using bearing driver (3264).
- Using backside of the centering mandrel (3176 ), press needle bearing further in until the previously measured depth is achieved.
- Afterwards, verify the depth dimension - x - that the needle bearing is driven into the dual-mass flywheel.
- Install clutch pressure plate.
