Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (Canada models with navigation system)

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (Canada models with navigation system)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Measure the voltage between audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1.�

NO -

Replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.�

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 11.�

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

6. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) and XM receiver connector A (14P).

7. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a shot to body ground in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2.�

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.�

9. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminals and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminals according to the table.













Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 10.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

10. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector.

11. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminals according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 12.

12. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) terminals according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation. If the symptom is still present, replace the XM receiver XM Receiver Removal/Installation (Without AcuraLink).�
