Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Volume does not change (with navigation system)

Volume does not change (with navigation system)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Set the fader and balance positions to the center.

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

2. Turn on the audio-navigation unit, and check for sound in each mode (AM, FM, XM, and CD).

Is the sound normal?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to Sound Quality Diagnosis Audio System Sound Quality Diagnosis or No sound is heard from the speaker(s) troubleshooting With Navigation.�

3. Operate the volume knob to see if the volume changes.

Does the volume change?

YES -

Operation is normal.�

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

5. Disconnect audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) and audio-navigation unit connector F (12P).

6. Check for continuity between audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminals and audio-navigation unit connector F (12P) terminals according to the table.













Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 7.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

7. Check for continuity between audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel connector A (20P) terminals and body ground according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector F (12P) terminals according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.�

NO -

Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD) Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation. If the symptom is still present, replace the audio-navigation and HVAC switch panel Audio-Navigation and HVAC Switch Panel Removal/Installation.�
