Voice guidance cannot be heard, is broken up, or there is static
Diagnostic Test: Self-Diagnosis Mode
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- The navigation system uses the center speaker for voice response.
- Check the navigation volume level (see Navigation Manual).
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- If the hard error code stored, check the hard error code troubleshooting first.
- Before troubleshooting, make sure you have the anti-theft code.
- After troubleshooting, enter the anti-theft code.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
2. Press the SET-UP button.
3. Check the volume and voice feedback setting for the navigation system in set-up.
Is either set to OFF?
YES -
Set the voice feedback to ON, and select an audible level for the volume.�
NO -
Go to step 4.
4. Check the audio system operation.
Can you hear the audio system?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Go to step 5.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
6. Connect the HDS to the DLC How to Troubleshoot the HandsFreeLink System Part One.
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
8. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are there any DTCs present?
YES -
Troubleshoot the DTC, then recheck.�
NO -
Troubleshoot the audio system.�
9. Check for the hard error code How To Troubleshoot The Navigation System.
Is there a hard error code stored?
YES -
Refer to the hard error code troubleshooting.�
NO -
Go to step 10.
10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
11. Disconnect audio- navigation unit connector D (20P) and stereo amplifier connector B (28P).
12. Check for continuity between body ground and audio-navigation unit connector D (20P) terminals No. 17 and No. 19 individually.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 13.
13. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector D (20P) terminals according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES -
There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
NO -
Go to step 14.
14. Check for continuity between audio-navigation unit connector D (20P) terminals No. 17 and No. 19 and stereo amplifier connector B (28P) terminals No. 9 and No. 21 respectively.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 15.
NO -
There is an open in the wire between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.�
15. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier Service and Repair, and recheck.
Is the system OK?
YES -
Replace the original stereo amplifier Service and Repair.�
NO -
Replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.�
