Symptom Troubleshooting: VSA activation indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored
VSA activation indicator does not go off, and no DTCs are stored
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and watch the VSA indicator.
Does the VSA indicator go off?
YES - The system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
NO - Go to step 2.
2. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
3. Check the VSA OFF switch. Testing and Inspection
Is the switch OK?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Replace the VSA OFF switch. Testing and Inspection
4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
Does the VSA activation indicator go off?
YES - The system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Do the VSA sensor neutral memorization. Programming and Relearning
7. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
8. Check the VSA activation indicator.
Does the VSA activation indicator go off?
YES - The system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
NO - Go to step 9.
9. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
10. Disconnect the VSA OFF switch 6P connector.
11. Remove the gauge control module, and disconnect gauge control module connector B (28P). Service and Repair
12. Check for continuity between the VSA OFF switch 6P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the gauge control module and the VSA OFF switch.
NO - Check for loose terminals or poor connections at the gauge control module connectors. If connections are good, replace the gauge control module Service and Repair and recheck.
