Front Air Outlets, Center

Front Air Outlets, Center

Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

Removing

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

- Remove the center bezel (5) from the instrument panel and place it on a workbench.

- Remove the two screws (2) that secure each air outlet (1 and 3) to the center bezel.

- Disengage the three retaining tabs (4) that secure each air outlet to the center bezel and remove the outlets as required.

Installing

- Position the air outlets (1 and 3) to the center bezel (5) and engage the retaining tabs (4). Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged.

- Install the two screws (2) that secure each air outlet to the center bezel. Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in lbs).
