Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
• Take the proper precautions to protect the front face of the instrument panel from cosmetic damage during this service procedure.
Removing
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
• It is not necessary to remove the front HVAC housing from the vehicle when servicing the instrument panel ducts. The instrument panel should be removed separately.
- Remove the instrument panel and place it on a workbench..
- Remove the instrument panel cover..
- Remove the screws (1 and 4) that secure the passenger side instrument panel duct (2) and the duct (3) to the instrument panel support (5).
Installing
- Install the screws (1 and 4) that secure the passenger side instrument panel duct (2) and the passenger side duct (3) to the instrument panel support (5). Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in lbs).

- Install the instrument panel..
- Connect the negative battery cable.
