Exhaust Gas Recirculation Pipe
Removing
- Remove the exhaust gas recirculation pipe bolts (3) from the EGR valve (5).
- Remove and discard the EGR pipe gasket.
DO NOT use air tools when removing bolts from the upper intake manifold. The upper intake manifold is made of plastic and it is critical to remove the bolts using hand tools ONLY. The use of air tools can damage the threads of the upper intake manifold.
- Remove the EGR pipe bolts from the upper intake manifold.
- Remove the EGR pipe from the vehicle.
- Remove the silicone rubber seal - arrow - from he upper intake manifold.
- Inspect the rubber silicone seal for wear or cracks, replace as necessary.
Installing
• Make sure that the silicone rubber seal is undamaged during installation.
- Install the new silicone rubber seal - arrow - to the upper intake manifold, if necessary.
Do not use air tools to install the bolts to the upper intake manifold. The upper intake manifold is made of plastic and it is critical to install the bolts using hand tools only. Tighten all bolts to specification. The use of air tools can cause the threads of the upper intake manifold to become stripped.
- Install the EGR pipe to the upper intake manifold.
- Install the EGR pipe bolts to the upper intake manifold. Tighten the bolts to 5.5 Nm (48.5 in. lbs.).
- Install a new EGR pipe gasket between the EGR pipe (2) and valve (5).
- Install the EGR pipe bolts (3) to the EGR valve (5). Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (11 ft lbs).
