Measuring Crankshaft End Play

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Dial Indicator








- Mount a dial indicator to the front of the engine with the locating probe on the end of the crankshaft.

- Move the crankshaft all the way to the rear of its travel.

- Zero the dial indicator.

- Move the crankshaft all the way to the front and read the dial indicator. Crankshaft end play must be within specification. Refer to => [ Crankshaft and Bearing Specifications ] Crankshaft and Bearing Specifications.
