Crankshaft Assembly Overview
• To perform assembly work, secure engine with the Bracket for V8 engine (6095/1-6A) to the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095). Refer to --> [ Engine, Securing on Engine and Transmission Holder ] Engine, Securing on Engine and Transmission Holder.
1 Cylinder block
• Paired with --> [ (Item 12) Guide frame ].
• Sealant applied on cylinder block (for guide frame), refer to --> [ Sealant Applied on Cylinder Block (for Guide Frame) ]
2 Seals
• Replace
3 Crankshaft seal, ribbed belt side
• Replacing, refer to --> [ Crankshaft Seal, Ribbed Belt Side ] Service and Repair.
4 Alignment pin
• 2 pieces
• Insert into guide frame.
• Installed location, refer to --> [ Sealant Applied on Cylinder Block (for Guide Frame) ]
5 Bolt, 9 Nm
6 Guide tube for oil dipstick
7 O-ring
• Replace
8 Bolts
• For guide frame.
• Replace
• Various bolts sizes.
• Tightening sequence, refer to --> [ Installing Guide Frame ]
9 Baffle plate
10 Bolt, 9 Nm
• Tightening sequence, refer to --> [ Baffle Plate Tightening Sequence ]
11 Bolt
• For sealing surfaces of cylinder block/guide frame.
• Different bolt lengths.
• Tightening sequence, refer to --> [ Installing Guide Frame ]
12 Guide frame
• Paired with --> [ (Item 1) Cylinder block ].
• Sealant applied on cylinder block (for guide frame), refer to --> [ Sealant Applied on Cylinder Block (for Guide Frame) ]
• Tightening sequence for manifold mounting bolts, refer to --> [ Installing Guide Frame ]
13 Thrust washer
• Only at 4th crankshaft bearing.
• Lubricating grooves face outward.
• Note locating point in guide frame.
• Measuring crankshaft axial clearance, refer to --> [ Axial Clearance, Measuring ] Axial Clearance, Measuring.
14 Bearing shell
• For guide frame without lubricating groove.
• Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark).
• Insert new bearing shells for guide frame with proper color marking.
New crankshafts, refer to --> [ Allocating Main Bearing Shells, for New Crankshafts ] Allocating Main Bearing Shells, for New Crankshafts.

15 Crankshaft
• Measuring axial play, refer to --> [ Axial Clearance, Measuring ] Axial Clearance, Measuring.
• Radial clearance, measuring, refer to --> [ Radial Clearance, Measuring ] Radial Clearance, Measuring.
• Do not turn crankshaft when measuring radial play.
• Crankshaft dimensions, refer to --> [ Crankshaft Dimensions ] [1][2]Crankshaft, Engine.
16 Thrust washer
• Only at 4th crankshaft bearing.
• Lubricating grooves face outward.
• Measuring crankshaft axial clearance, refer to --> [ Axial Clearance, Measuring ] Axial Clearance, Measuring.
17 Bearing shell
• For cylinder block with oil groove.
• Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark).
• Insert new bearing shells for cylinder block with proper color marking.

18 Seals
• Replace
Baffle Plate Tightening Sequence
- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 16 - in the sequence shown.
Sealant Applied on Cylinder Block (for Guide Frame)
- Clean the sealing surfaces, they must be free of oil and grease.
- Apply sealant beads - arrows - on clean sealing surfaces of guide frame as shown in illustration.
- Install seals - 1 through 4 -.
• Thickness of sealant beads: 2.0 mm.
Installation Position of Alignment Pins
- Check whether alignment pins - arrows - are inserted at locations in guide frame as shown in the illustration.
Installing Guide Frame
- Replace bolts - 1 through 20 -.
- Tighten the bolts for the guide frame as follows:
- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 10 - to 30 Nm using a torque wrench.
- Tighten the bolts - 11 through 20 - to 20 Nm using a torque wrench.
- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 10 - to 50 Nm using a torque wrench.
- Tighten the bolts - 11 through 20 - to 30 Nm using a torque wrench.
- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 10 - 90° (1/4 turn) using a wrench.
- Tighten the bolts - 11 through 20 - 90° (1/4 turn) using a wrench.
- Tighten cylinder block/guide frame sealing surface bolts, - highlighted in illustration but not numbered -, in a diagonal sequence to 9 Nm.
