Flex Plate: Service and Repair
Drive Plate
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Counter-Holder Tool (T10069)
• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)
• Depth gauge
• Straight edge
Removing
- Remove drive plate. To do so, secure vibration damper using (T10069).
- Loosen drive plate securing bolts in a diagonal sequence and remove.
- Remove drive plate.
Installing
- Install drive plate on crankshaft.
- Insert at least 3 old securing bolts and tighten to 30 Nm.
- Measure dimension - a - via 3 holes for converter securing via assisting ruler and depth measurement and calculate mean value.
- Compare average (measured distance + thickness of straightedge) with specification. Specified value: 15.7 to 16.5 mm
If specified value is not reached:
- Remove drive plate again and use appropriate shim - 1 -.
• Only one shim of the appropriate thickness may be used.
If specified value is obtained:
- Insert new securing bolts and tighten by hand.
- Tighten bolt to 60 Nm + 90° (1/4 turn)
