Coolant Line/Hose: Service and Repair

Coolant Pipe

Removing

• Drained coolant must be stored in a clean container for disposal or reuse.


Observe safety precautions when disconnecting the battery. .

- Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to => [ Coolant Thermostat Housing ] Coolant Thermostat Housing.

- Remove the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump motor (V101). Refer to => [ Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor ] Secondary Air Injection Pump Motor.

- Remove the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Service and Repair.

- Disconnect the electrical harness connector - 1 - for the Air Conditioning (A/C) clutch on the A/C compressor and free up the electrical wire.


The A/C refrigerant circuit must not be opened.

- Remove the bolts - arrow - for A/C compressor.






- Secure the A/C compressor with connected coolant hoses at the front on the longitudinal member.

- Disengage the Engine Speed (RPM) sensor (G28) connector - arrow - from the bracket on oil dipstick guide tube.






- Remove the bolt - 3 - and remove oil dipstick guide tube - 2 -.






- Remove the bolt - 4 - and remove the vacuum reservoir - 1 - from the intake manifold.

- Move the vacuum reservoir with the lines still connected to the side.

- Disconnect the after run coolant pump (V51) - 2 - electrical connector - 3 -.






- Remove pump downward from rubber bracket loops. Spray rubber loops with silicone free lubricant if necessary.

- Remove the after run coolant pump bracket.

- Unclip the wire harness retainer on the right side from the coolant pipe.

- Remove the wire harness on the left side from the retainer on the coolant pipe.

- Remove the coolant hose from the oil cooler and coolant pipe.

- Remove the coolant pipe from the cylinder block.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

• Replace O-rings.

- Clean and/or smooth O-ring sealing surface in cylinder block before installing.

- Lubricate the new O-ring - 1 - with coolant and slide it onto the coolant pipe - 2 -.






- Slide the coolant pipe into the hole in the cylinder block.

- Install the thermostat housing. Refer to => [ Coolant Thermostat Housing ] Coolant Thermostat Housing.

- Install A/C compressor.

- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Service and Repair.

- Fill the cooling system. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.
