Lower Control Arm Bonded Rubber Bushing, Caster Adjusting Bolt Connection

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Assembly tool (T10230)

Hollow piston cylinder (VAS 6179)

Hydraulic press (VAS 6178) with pressure head (T10205/13)

Engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A)

Torque wrench (VAG 1332)

Socket (T10188)

Removing

CAUTION!
Before starting work, stabilizer bars must be coupled in vehicles with separable stabilizer bars. Otherwise, there is the danger of injury caused by unintentional separation.

- Remove lower control arm from subframe.

- Place a wood block - arrow - between lower control arm and subframe.





- Attach tools onto lower control arm, as shown in illustration.





1. Hydraulic press (VAS 6178) with pressure head (T10205/13)

2. Thrust plate (T10230/7)

3. Tube (T10230/9)

4. Lower control arm

5. Press piece (T10230/10)

6. Spindle (T10230/1) and Nut (T10230/2)

CAUTION!
Before removing, place engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A) with universal mount underneath cylinder, cylinder may fall down at end of pressing out procedure.

- Press out bonded rubber bushing.

Installing

- Extend clear area on outer diameter of bonded rubber bushing, using for example a felt-tip marker.

- Attach tools onto lower control arm, as shown in illustration.





1. Hydraulic press (VAS 6178) with pressure head (T10205/13)

2. Thrust plate (T10230/12)

3. Bonded rubber bushing

4. Lower control arm

5. Press piece (T10230/11)

6. Spindle (T10230/1) and Nut (T10230/2)

Align bonded rubber bushing to marking - arrow - and press in until stop.

- Install control arm to subframe.

- Perform vehicle alignment. Refer to --> [ Wheel Alignment ] Wheel Alignment.
