1 - Exhaust tailpipe
2 - Rear muffler
- As standard, center and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. If repairs are necessary, the center and rear mufflers are supplied individually and include a double clamp for connecting.
- If repairing, align rear muffler free of tension
3 - Suspended mount
- Installed location
- Replace if damaged
4 - 25 Nm
5 - Exhaust tailpipe
6 - Separating point
- For repairs
- Identified on exhaust pipe by an impression As standard, center and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. If repairs are necessary, the center and rear mufflers are supplied individually and include a double clamp for connecting.
- Cut through connecting pipe at right angles at separating point using body repair saw V.A.G 1523A.
- Notches left and right of separating point must still be visible after installing double clamps.
7 - Suspended mount
- Installed location
- Replace if damaged
8 - 25 Nm
9 - Suspended mount
- Installed location
10 - Double clamp
- Must be slid to its center onto front exhaust pipe.
- Note installation position: Bolt tips must not project beyond lower edge of clamp.
11 - Suspended mount
- Installed location
12 - Double clamp, 40 Nm
- Must be slid to its center onto front exhaust pipe.
13 - To exhaust manifold
14 - Center muffler
- As standard, center and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. If repairs are necessary, the center and rear mufflers are supplied individually and include a double clamp for connecting.
15 - Double clamp
- For repairs
- Installed location







Installation position of double clamps in direction of travel
- The end of bolt - 1 - must not project beyond lower edge of clamp.
- The angle - 2 - should be 10 degree +5 degree.







Aligning exhaust system
- Exhaust system, cold
- Press exhaust system in direction of travel - 1 - and tighten double clamps tightly until dimension - a - at suspensions is reached. Center muffler: Dimension a = 10 mm, Rear muffler: Dimension a = 15 mm
