INSTRUCTIONS: Perform this procedure on all applicable vehicles within the New Vehicle Warranty.
Tip:
This Technical Bulletin is in effect for 12 months from date of publication as listed above. After that date, this Technical Bulletin will expire and no longer be in effect.
Condition
Hood release lever inside vehicle is inoperative. Hood release (bowden) cable requires installation of a tie strap to ensure coupling remains locked when release is used.
Production
Applies to vehicles within the VIN ranges shown.
IMPORTANT!
Vehicle may come from two different Manufacturing facilities (designated by "E" or "P" in the VIN). The range varies for each factory.
Service
Requirements:
- Vehicle must meet ALL of the following criteria.
1. Procedure is valid only for vehicles that show the BT code in the OTIS View Campaign inquiry screen on the day of repair as shown.
2. Vehicle must be within the Limited New Vehicle Warranty.
3. Procedure must be performed within the allotted time frame stated in this Technical Bulletin.
Tip:
Procedure must also be performed on applicable vehicles in Dealer inventory
Procedure:
- In order to prevent the bowden cable coupling (cage) -1- from opening:
- Open hood.
- Locate bowden cable coupling -1- over headlight on drivers side of lock carrier -2-.
- Install a tie strap Part No. N 020 9048, (arrow) to the cable coupling as shown.
Tip:
When installing, make sure that bowden cable sleeve is inserted correctly and coupling is locked.
Tie strap should always be added after "cage" is opened for any reason as part of standard repair procedure.
Before closing hood:
- Test hood release operating lever and bowden cable for proper function.
