Coolant Pump and Thermostat

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
- Torque Wrench 5 -50 Nm (VAG 1331)

Removing
- Remove the ribbed belt. Service and Repair
- Remove the toothed belt. Removal and Replacement
- If the coolant thermostat must be replaced:
- Remove the coolant hose from the coolant thermostat housing.
- Remove the coolant thermostat housing bolts - arrows -.



- Remove the seal and then the coolant thermostat.

Installing
- Install the coolant thermostat with the breather valve - arrow - facing upward.



- Lubricate a new O-ring with coolant and install.
- Tighten the coolant thermostat housing bolts by hand, and then tighten them to 10 Nm.
- If the coolant pump must be replaced:
- Remove the toothed belt guard nuts - 1 -.



- Remove the coolant pump bolts - arrows -.
- Installation is performed in the reverse of removal, noting the following:
- Install the coolant pump with gasket.
- Tighten all bolts by hand and then tighten to 15 Nm.
- Install the toothed belt. Removal and Replacement
- Install the ribbed belt.Service and Repair
- Fill the cooling system. Service and Repair
