Oil pump, removing and installing

Special tools equipment, testers





^ VAG 1306 Drip tray or equivalent





^ VAG 1331 Torque wrench or equivalent

^ Refer to Steering and Suspension

Removing
- Transmission removed





- Remove sound insulation tray (arrows).
- Remove front right exhaust pipe.
- Place drip tray VAG 1306 or equivalent underneath.





- Drain transmission oil (bolts -1- and -2-).
- Remove oil pressure line retainers on engine and on engine/transmission flange.
- Disconnect oil pressure lines on transmission (arrows).
- Remove right-hand flange shaft.
- Remove oil pump cover securing bolts -3-.





- Pull oil pump out straight by grasping oil pump cover reinforcing rib with a pair of pliers and pulling.

Note: Ensure that the oil pump is not tilted to one side.

Installing
Install in reverse order but note the following:
- When installing, replace O-ring.
- Replace seals on oil pressure lines.

Note: When inserting the oil pump, ensure that the small input gear is engaged in the large input gear. The oil pump cover then lies completely against the transmission housing.

- Check transmission gear oil.

Tightening torques
Oil pump to transmission housing 25 Nm
