Gear oil pump, removing and installing
Special tools and equipment
^ VAG 1306 Drip tray
^ VAG 1331 Torque wrench
Removing
- Remove noise insulation.
- Remove left side noise insulation.
- Place drip tray VAG 1306 beneath transmissions.
- Drain gear oil
- Remove bolts (arrows) and take oil pump cover -A- off.
- Bolts must be replaced.
- Remove bolts (arrows) and take gear oil pump -1- out forward.
Bolts must be replaced.
Install gear oil pump
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence. Note the following:
- Slide home shaft -A- for gear oil pump in transmission (turn slightly if necessary).
Shaft installation dimension -a- is approximately 23 mm
- Carefully remove metal particles on sensor wheel -B-, (Sensor wheel must not be demagnetized).
- Remove paper seal between gear oil pump and transmission.
- Remove rest of paper seal and clean inside of transmission.
- Clean sealing surfaces for gear oil pump and transmission.
- Install new paper seal between pump and transmissions, (fix in position with gear oil if necessary).
- Attach gear oil pump -1- onto shaft and move into installation position.
- Tighten new bolts (arrows) diagonally to 5 Nm plus an additional 90° (1/4 turn).
- Replace gear oil pump cover.
- Install new gear oil pump cover -A- and tighten new bolts to (arrows) to 8 Nm.
- Pour in gear oil, check gear oil level and top off if necessary.
