10 Separating point
- For repairs
- marked by three depressions around the circumference of the exhaust pipe
- At factory, exhaust pipe and rear muffler are installed as a single component. Replacement exhaust pipe and rear muffler are supplied separately, with replacement double clamp for connecting joint.
- Using e.g. V.A.G 1523 body repair saw, cut exhaust pipe at separating point at right angle See Fig. 3

Work procedure
- Position double clamp with approx. 5 mm gap to marking A (arrow 1).

NOTE: Marking -A- is valid for vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.

Work procedure
- Angled side at foot of suspension (arrow) faces front of vehicle.

Recommended special tools and equipment
- Body saw, e.g. VAG1523

Work procedure
- Separate exhaust pipe at right angle to separation point (arrow 2).
- Position repair double clamp -4- at the edge markings (arrows 1 and 3) when installing.
Tightening torque 40 Nm

Work procedure
- Mounting bolt at exhaust pipe must be parallel to tunnel bridge (dimension -x- same at left and right).
