Cooling System - Abnormal Lower Radiator Hose Wear

Technical Background
The lower radiator hose could come into contact with the engine cooling fan, which may lead to radiator hose wear.

Revised lower radiator hose as of VIN: WVWKG61J7D078336.
Service
NOTE: When working on engine cooling systems, refer to Cautions, Warnings, and Notes in the appropriate Repair Manual, Repair Group 19.
Replace lower radiator hose on all vehicles up to VIN: WVWKG61J7D078336, as described below:
- Remove sound insulation pan from below engine.
- Install hose clamp pliers (Special Tool 3094 or similar crimp tool) at after-run coolant pump by-pass valve (arrow).
- Clamp off coolant hose at lower radiator hose (arrow).
- Clamp off after-run coolant hose (arrow).
- Disconnect lower radiator hose (arrow).
NOTE:
Use a suitable container to catch any draining coolant.
- Disconnect lower radiator hose (arrow).
- Remove any lower radiator hose from retaining clip (arrow).
- Remove lower radiator hose from vehicle.
- Install new lower radiator hose.See Required Parts and Tools.
- Reverse remaining procedure to complete repairs.
- Refill cooling system as necessary.
