2FN Brake Caliper
Notes:
^ Only use appropriate solvents for cleaning brake parts.
^ Install all parts supplied in repair kit.
^ New brake calipers are filled with brake fluid and are prebled.
^ Apply a thin coat of installing paste G 052 150 A2 to brake cylinders, pistons and seals.
1 - Brake carrier
^ Install on brake caliper housing
2- Ribbed combi bolt, 190 Nm
^ Clean if reusing
3 - Guide pin, 25 Nm
4 - Cap
^ Insert in mounting bush
5 - Mounting bush
^ Insert into brake caliper housing
6 - Brake caliper housing
^ 7 - Bleed valve
^ Apply thin coat of assembly paste G 052 1 50 A2 to threads before screwing in
8 - Protective cap
^ Push onto bleed valve
9 - Retaining spring
^ Insert with both ends in the brake caliper housing holes and then press under the brake carrier
10 - Protective - seal
^ Do not damage when installing piston
11 - Piston
^ Apply a thin coat of paste G 052 1 50 A2 to piston before installing
12 - Seal
Front brake caliper piston, removing and installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
^ 3409 Wedge
^ Piston resetting tool
Removing
^ Force piston from brake caliper housing using compressed air.
Note:
^ Place a wooden board in the recess of the caliper housing to prevent damaging the piston.
^ Only one piston at a time can be forced out. When doing this hold the other piston in the caliper using the piston resetting tool.
^ Remove protective seal out of piston groove using 3409 wedge.
^ Remove piston.
Note: When removing make sure that the surface of the cylinder is not damaged.
^ Remove protective seal using 3409 wedge.
^ Remove seal using 3409 wedge.
Note: When removing make sure that the surface of the cylinder is not damaged.
Installing
^ Clean surfaces of the piston and seal (use only appropriate solvent) then dry.
^ Apply a thin coat of paste G 052 150 A2 to piston and seal before installing.
^ Install oil seal in brake caliper housing.
^ Place the outer sealing lip of protective seal on the piston.
^ Using 3409 wedge, insert the inner sealing lip into the grove in the cylinder.
Note: Hold piston in front of caliper housing.
^ Press piston into the brake caliper housing as far as possible by hand.
^ Press piston into the brake caliper housing using piston resetting tool.
Note: The outer sealing lip of protective seal will then engage in the piston groove.
