Front caliper piston, removing and installing
Special tools required
Removing
- Push piston out of brake caliper housing with compressed air.
CAUTION: Place a wooden block in the caliper to prevent damage to the piston.
- Remove seal using plastic wedge 3409 or equivalent.
CAUTION: When removing, use care to ensure that the cylinder bore is not damaged.
Installing
- Clean piston surface and seal with clean solvent only.
- Thinly coat piston and seal with lubricant G 052 150 A2 before installing.
- Place protective seal with outer sealing lip on piston.
- Install inner sealing lip in cylinder grove with plastic wedge 3409 or equivalent.
Note: Hold piston in front of caliper housing while performing this step.
- Press piston in brake caliper housing with piston resetting tool.
Note: Protective seal outer lip must seat in piston groove.
