Disassembling and assembling sequence
Removing
- Place drain pan under transmission.
- Remove drain plug and drain ATF
- Remove oil pan bolts and remove oil pan.
- Remove 2 bolts from ATF screen (arrows).
- Pull ATF screen from valve body.
- Pry securing clip (arrow) off connector on wiring harness.
- Disconnect connector at Transmission Vehicle Speed sensor (VSS) (arrow).
- When removing valve body, only loosen bolts marked with arrows.
Bolt -A- is shorter then other bolts.
CAUTION: If any other bolts are loosened, the valve body function can be affected or the valve body may come apart
- Remove valve body; guide wiring harness connector accordingly.
CAUTION: Do not set the removed valve body down on the Transmission Input Speed Sensor at the rear of the valve body, as this could damage the Transmission Input Speed Sensor.
Installing
- Lubricate new O-rings of wiring harness connector with ATF
- Position connector in transmission housing with flat part (arrow A) facing toward oil pan.
- Align dowel pin on valve body (arrow B) with corresponding hole in transmission housing (arrow C).
- Place valve body in position so that pin of detent plate -1- engages in slot on selector slide -2-.
- Tighten bolts (hand-tight) securing valve body (arrows).
Bolt arrow -A- is shorter than the other bolts.
- Tighten bolts to specified torque, working from inside outward.
- Install clasp to secure wiring harness connector (arrow) and ensure complete engagement.
