Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair



Parking brake cables, removing and installing





Special tools required

Removing
- Remove both rear wheels.





- Remove heat shield (1).
- Remove retaining nuts on heat shield (2) and slide heat shield forward,





- Remove locking element -D-.
- Screw adjusting nut -C- in onto stop, counter hold with a 13 mm wrench -E-.
- Slide cable adjustment together.





- Remove securing clip -1- and unhook parking brake cable from caliper.

Note: Be careful not to damage parking brake boot when removing and installing.





- Remove (unscrew) parking brake cable from bracket on rear axle beam
- Unclip wheel speed sensor cable from retainer.





- Release heat shield above rear muffler and move to side.





- Open retainer and remove parking brake cable.





- Remove parking brake cable from console with screwdriver.
- Remove center console extension.





- Press parking brake cable in direction of parking brake lever using a screwdriver and push ball out of retainer.
- Remove parking brake cable.

Installing





- Remove any plastic parts on compensator, they do not need to be re-installed.
- Hold compensator from turning (Size 2 screwdriver).
- Insert ball head through slot in compensator.
- Parking brake cable must engage in slot.
- Secure parking brake cables to rear axle beam.
- Adjust parking brake.
- Install center console extension.
