Removing
Note: If reusing brake pads mark location and install in same position
- Remove protective caps.
- Remove (lift) brake pad retaining spring from brake caliper housing with a screwdriver.
- Remove both guide pins from brake caliper.
- Remove brake caliper and secure.
- Remove brake pads from caliper housing or brake carrier.
CAUTION: Do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose. The unsupported weight can stretch and damage the hose.
Installing
Note: Before installing new brake pads, press piston into cylinder with resetting tool. Before pressing piston back, draw off brake fluid from reservoir with bleeder bottle. Otherwise if reservoir has been topped up, fluid will overflow causing damage.
- Press piston back.
- Insert brake pad with retaining spring in brake caliper housing (piston).
Note: The inner pad (with spring) has an arrow. The arrow must point in the brake disc forward direction of rotation. May create noise if incorrectly installed.
- Remove outer brake pad protective foil.
- Install outer brake pad in brake carrier.
- Secure brake caliper to carrier with both guide pins, 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
- Install both protective caps,
- Insert retaining spring in brake caliper housing.
Note: After replacing brake pads, depress pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary, to ensure brake pads are properly seated.
