Malfunction Light For Power Accelerator Activation, Checking
NOTES: Malfunction light for power accelerator activation - k132 is also known as the Electronic Power Control (EPC) warning lamp.
Special tools and equipment
- Hand multimeter V.A.G 1526 or multimeter V.A.G 1715
- Adapter set V.A.G 1594
- Test box V.A.G 1598/31
- Current flow diagram
Functional check test of warning lamp
Location of EPC warning lamp
Functional check:
- Switch ignition on.
- EPC warning lamp must light.
- Start engine and run at idling speed.
- EPC warning lamp must go out if no E - Gas as related DTC is stored.
Malfunction light for power accelerator activation does not light
- Remove inner plenum chamber cover, left.
- Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 to control unit wiring harness. The engine control unit is not connected by this action.
- Bridge test test box sockets 1 + 48 using adapter cables from V.A.G 1594.
- Switch ignition on.
- Warning lamp must light
If warning lamp does not light:
- Switch ignition off.
- Remove instrument cluster and check bulb and its voltage supply.
If no malfunction is found:
- Check wiring between test box and 2 - pin connector - 1 - for open circuit according wiring diagram.
- Terminal 1 + Socket 85
- Terminal 2 + Socket 108
- Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms
If no malfunction in wire is detected:
- Replace engine electronics control unit.
Malfunction light for power acceleration is always lit
- Remove inner plenum chamber cover, left.
- Connect test box V.A.G 1598/31 to control unit wiring harness. The engine control unit is not connected by this action.
- Check wiring between test box and 2 - pin connector - 1 - for open circuit according wiring diagram.
- Terminal 1+Socket 85
- Terminal 2+Socket 108
- Wire resistance: max. 1.5 ohms
If no malfunction in wire is detected:
- Replace engine electronics control unit.
