Brake Master Cylinder: Locations







Brake Master Cylinder/Brake Booster, Servicing

1. Brake Booster
^ With gasoline engines vacuum is taken from the intake manifold
^ With Diesel engines a vacuum pump provides the required vacuum
^ Functional check:
- With engine off, depress brake pedal firmly several times (to exhaust vacuum in unit).
- Depress brake pedal with average foot pressure, hold and start engine. If brake booster is working properly, pedal will give slightly under foot (boost becomes effective).

^ If booster is not functioning replace complete brake booster
^ Check valve (in vacuum hose).
^ Separating booster from brake pedal. Brake Pedal to Brake Booster, Disconnecting and Connecting

2. Cap
3. Brake fluid reservoir
4. Sealing plug
^ Moisten with brake fluid and press into reservoir

5. Retainer pin
^ Install through brake master cylinder

6. Brake master cylinder
^ Cannot be repaired. If faulty, replace as complete unit

7. Self-locking nut
^ 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
^ Always replace

8. Heat shield
9. Self-locking nut
^ 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
^ Always replace

10. Seal
^ Always replace

11. Sealing plug
12. Vacuum hose
- Insert into brake booster

13. Gasket
^ For brake booster

14. Self-locking nut
^ 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
^ Always replace

15. Boot
^ Must be seated correctly or may cause air noise.
