Condition

Cigarette lighter, interior lights, power door locks do not function, fuse S 21 is open.

Service

Beginning with VIN 3VWKA81H1VM031400 vehicles were produced with a new SAE cigarette lighter housing (with thermal breaker). The function of the cigarette lighter thermal breaker can be checked as follows:

Note:
This procedure can be used for vehicles equipped with the new SAE cigarette lighter assembly (with thermal breaker) ONLY:

- Install new fuse if necessary.

- Start vehicle (necessary to obtain a stable voltage supply)

- Push cigarette lighter in and hold for 30 seconds.

If fuse S 21 is not blown after 30 seconds, the thermal breaker is functioning correctly.

If fuse S 21 is open:

- Remove ash tray assembly.

- Replace cigarette lighter assembly.

- Install ash tray assembly.
