NOTE:
- During removal and installation procedures, refer to the component location illustration above and component notes below.
- After working on the exhaust system, ensure that the system is not under stress, and that it has sufficient clearance from the bodywork. If necessary, loosen the double and single clamps and align the muffler and exhaust pipe so that sufficient clearance is maintained to the bodywork and the support rings are evenly loaded.
- Replace self-locking nuts.

COMPONENT NOTES
Nut (2)
- Tighten to: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).


Mount Bolt/Nut (8)
- Tighten to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).


Separating Point (11)
- To allow replacement of the center muffler only instead of replacing the center/rear muffler as an assembly.
- The marks appear 3 times on the circumference of the connecting pipe.
- The production center and rear muffler are a one piece welded assembly. For repairs, the center and rear mufflers are supplied individually and a repair connecting pipe with two clamps is supplied.
- Cut through the connecting pipe with a body saw square to the separation point.

Separating Point (12)
- To allow replacement of the rear muffler only instead of replacing the center/rear muffler as an assembly.
- The marks appear 3 times on the circumference of the connecting pipe.
- The production center and rear muffler are a one piece welded assembly. For repairs, the center and rear mufflers are supplied individually and a repair connecting pipe with two clamps is supplied.
- Cut through the connecting pipe with a body saw square to the separation point.

Dimension -b- (13)
- Approx. 10 mm (0.40 inch).


Dimension -a- (14)
- Approx. 5 mm. (0.20 inch).


Marking (15)
- Three times on circumference.

Marking (16)
- Three times on circumference.
- S = Manual transmission
- A = Automatic transmission

Connecting Pipe (17)
- Repair piece for use when replacing a single muffler.
