Valve Guide: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove all carbon deposits from valve guide.
2. Position a dial indicator on cylinder head to check guides.
3. Insert new valve into valve guide. End of valve stem must be flush with valve guide end.
4. Rock valve back and forth against dial indicator.
5. Maximum clearance for intake valves is .039 inch and for exhaust valves .051 inch. Replace guide(s) if reading is not within specifications.
