Air Injection Check Valve: Service and Repair
REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR INLET VALVE AND PUMP MOTORCAUTION: On vehicles equipped with an anti-theft radio, obtain the correct radio activation code before disconnecting the battery.
REMOVING
- Make sure ignition is switched OFF.
- Disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap.
CAUTION:
- On vehicles with air conditioning, Remove retaining clamp(s) from refrigerant lines.
- DO NOT open the A/C refrigerant circuit.
- The opening of the refrigerant lines can only be carried out in workshops which have trained personnel, and the necessary range of tools and equipment.
- To prevent damage to the condenser and refrigerant lines and hoses, make sure that A/C refrigerant lines and hoses are NOT stretched, kinked or bent.
- Remove intake hose between Air Cleaner and Secondary Air Injection pump motor.
- Remove pressure hose between Air Inlet valve and Secondary Air Injection pump motor.
- Pull vacuum hose off Air Inlet valve.
- Remove dipstick guide tube from intake manifold lower section.
- Unbolt Air Inlet valve from cylinder head and remove.
- Disconnect 2-pin harness connectors from Secondary Air Injection pump motor and Secondary Air Injection solenoid valve.
- Unbolt Secondary Air Injection pump motor from lifting eye and carefully pull out between engine coolant radiator and intake manifold lower section.
INSTALLING
- Install in reverse order of removal.
