Assembly overview, power assisted steering box (TRW)

Determine cause of any malfunctions, using pressure and leak testing.

NOTE:
Always replace self-locking nuts and bolts.
Welding and straightening work on steering components is not permitted.
To grease the rack use only steering gear grease, Part No. AOF 063 000 04, or equivalent.
Type of oil: Hydraulic oil part No. G 002 000, or equivalent
Oil system capacity: 0.7-0.9 liter. (0.74-0.95 qt)
Supply and pressure line routing. Service and Repair







1. Self-locking nut 30 Nm (22ft lb)

2. Steering gear
Removing and installing Power Steering Gear, Removing & Installing
Adjusting Adjustments

3. Sealing Ring
Always replace

4. Threaded connection
30 Nm (22 ft lb)
Return line

5. Hex nut 30 Nm (22 ft lb)

6. Tie rod end
separating Power Steering Gear, Removing & Installing

7. Hex nut 50 Nm (37 ft lb)
8. Clamp

9. Boot
Pull on and off over the tie rod
Can be replaced with the steering gear installed
Must not be twisted after adjusting toe
Must not be installed on a ZF power steering gear

10. Hose Clamp

11. Left-hand tie rod
70 Nm (52 ft lb)

12. Pressure balancing tube
Check for damage
