Starter Motor: Service and Repair

Removing:
- Disconnect ground (GND) strap at battery.




- Support engine/transmission assembly with 10-222A and legs 10-222A/1.




- Remove black plastic cap and connector -arrow- from solenoid.




- Unlatch connector at solenoid terminal 50 -upper arrow- and disconnect.
- Remove nut securing wiring to solenoid terminal 30 (B+) -lower arrow-.
- When installing tighten nut to 13 Nm (10 ft lb)




- M8 nut on stud -arrow-
- Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

Securing starter (on the following engines)
1.9 ltr. Turbo Diesel engines (Canada only)
2.0 ltr. gas (where applicable)




- Tightening torque -arrow- to front console, 45 Nm (33 ft lb)




- M10 x 140 nut -arrow-
- Tightening torque: 60 Nm (44 ft lb)




- M10 x 140 upper hex bolt -arrow- securing starter
- Tightening torque: 60 Nm (44 ft lb)
