Radiator: Service and Repair



Radiator, Removing and Installing

NOTE:
During removal and installation procedures, refer to the component location illustration and component notes.

COMPONENT NOTES
2 Bolt. Torque Specification: 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
3 Radiator - replace coolant.
4 V-Belt - Only with optional equipment.
5 Guide Ring - Attached to fan shroud with clips. Note installed position.
9 Auxiliary Fan - Only on models with optional equipment.
10 Fan Shroud - Note installed position.
14 To Coolant Pipe Or Connector Flange - On models with M/T, connects to item No. 13 of coolant pipe diagram, refer to Radiator Hose.
On models with A/T, connects to item No. 9 of coolant pipe diagram, refer to Radiator Hose.
15 To ATF Cooler - On models with A/T.
17 Cap. Test Pressure: 1.3-1.5 bar (19-22 psi).
18 Coolant Fan Control Thermal Switch - Torque Specification: 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.). Switching temperatures:
1st Stage
ON: 92-97°C (197-206°F)
OFF: 84-91°C (183-195°F)
2nd Stage
ON: 99-105°C (210-221°F)
OFF: 91-98°C (195-208°F)

Removal
- Drain coolant. Refer to Cooling System, Service and Repair Service and Repair
- Remove front bumper, refer to Body and Frame. Refer to Body and Frame, Bumper, Service and Repair. Service and Repair
- Disconnect coolant hoses from radiator.
- Disconnect harness connectors from coolant fan control thermal switch and coolant fan.
- Remove headlights. Refer to Lighting and Horns, Headlamp, Service and Repair. Service and Repair
- Remove both radiator mounting bolts and remove radiator toward the front.
- On models with A/C, proceed as follows:

Notes:
DO NOT open A/C refrigerant circuit.
To prevent damage to condenser and to refrigerant lines/hoses, DO NOT stretch or kink them.
- Remove Air Cleaner.
- Remove both radiator mounting bolts.
- Remove retaining clamps from A/C refrigerant lines.
- Separate condenser from radiator and pull it forward as far as possible.
- Remove radiator between condenser and lock carrier (radiator support).

INSTALLATION
Install in reverse order of removal.
