Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair



Thermostat Housing, Disassembling And Assembling

NOTE: Connecting coolant hoses to thermostat housing refer to "Engine Component Layout And Replacement". Service and Repair





1 - Thermostat housing

2 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

3 - Thermostat
- Checking: Submerge thermostat in hot water.
- Opening begins at approx. 80° C (176° F)
- Opening ends at approx. 105° C (221° F)
- Opening stroke at least 7 mm

4 - Flange

5 - 10 Nm (7 ft lb)

6 - 0-ring

- Replace.

7 - Hose connection

8 - Plug

- For vehicles without A/C
- A/C Cut-out Thermal Switch (F163) and Third Speed Coolant Fan Control (FC) Thermal Switch (F165) for vehicles with A/C.
- Color: brown
- 4-pin connector.

9 - After-run Coolant Fan Control (FC), Thermal Switch (F87) with Engine Coolant Temperature sensor (G2)
- Color yellow, 4-pin connector
- Checking refer to "Coolant After-Run System, Checking".
Coolant after-run system Switching temperatures:
On: 101 to 107° C (213 to 224° F)
Off: 94 to 100° C (201 to 212° F)

10 - Engine Coolant Temperature
- Sensor (G62)
- Color blue, 2-pin connector

11 - Retaining clip
- Must be firmly seated
