Shift Linkage: Adjustments
LEVER BEARING ASSEMBLY1. Align holes in lever baring plate with corresponding holes in lever housing.
NOTE: When installing lever bearing plate, threaded holes in lever housing should be centered in plate slots. If not, turn plate 180° and tighten plate bolts to specifications.
SHIFT ROD
1. Pull boot from lever housing and move aside, or remove cover plate only, if equipped.
2. Loosen shift rod clamp so selector lever moves easily on shift rod.
3. Adjust shift finger in center of lock out plate so front and rear spacing are equal.
4. Adjust shift rod end so that distance between shift finger and lock out bracket is 9/16 inch.
5. Tighten shift rod clamps to specifications.
6. Ensure gears engage easily without jamming. Ensure reverse lock out works properly.
7. If shift linkage is spongy or jams after adjustment, adjust shift rod end so that distance between shift finger and lock out bracket is 1/2 inch and recheck operation.
8. If shift linkage adjustment cannot be maintained, install a ``new'' clamp bolt and locknut.
