Starter Motor: Service and Repair

- Install engine support bridge assembly 10-222A and 10-222A/1.




- Remove black plastic cap and connector (arrows) from solenoid.




- Unlatch connector at solenoid terminal 50 (upper arrow) and disconnect.
- Remove nut securing wiring to solenoid terminal 30 (B+) (lower arrow).

Tightening Torques:




Nut securing wiring to solenoid terminal 30 (B+) (lower arrow)
Tightening torque: 13 Nm (10 ft lb)




M8 nut on stud (arrow)
Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)




M12 x 60 bolt (arrow) securing starter to front console (on the following engines):
- 1.8 liter gasoline (Canada only)
- 1.9 liter Diesel (Canada only)
- 2.0 liter gasoline
Tightening torque: 45 Nm (33 ft lb)




M10 x 140 nut (arrow)
Tightening torque: 60 Nm (44 ft lb)




M10 x 140 upper bolt (arrow) securing starter
Tightening torque: 60 Nm (44 ft lb)
